Adelphi University's University College to Sponsor Career Kick-Off

University College of Adelphi University, the adult undergraduate degree program founded more than 35 years ago, is pleased to sponsor a Career Kick-Off on Wednesday, August 19, 2009, for individuals who are interested in advancing their present careers, preparing for new ones, acing the job interview, and fulfilling professional goals. The free event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Adelphi's Ruth S. Harley University Center, 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY.
The event will include an opening networking event, followed by three break-out sessions with topics ranging from going back to college as an adult, to coping with the stress of the job search, among others. The keynote, "The Long Island Job Market, Growing/Shrinking Career Fields," will be delivered by a representative from Adecco, an agency at the forefront of employment opportunities worldwide. Other partners include the Long Island Works Coalition, MetLife/Northwest Financial Group, and the New York State Department of Labor.
New York residents who are at least 21 years old and have a high school level education or higher are encouraged to submit an online application. Participants will have the opportunity to network with members of the Adelphi community, as well as other area representatives from employment services. Approximately 200 attendees are expected, and the registration deadline is Monday, August 17, 2009.
