Richard C. Cahn Receives Emeritus Status on the Adelphi University Board of Trustees

Adelphi University is proud to recognize Richard C. Cahn, attorney and founding partner in the firm Cahn & Cahn, LLP, as a trustee emeritus on the University’s Board of Trustees. Mr. Cahn served for 18 years as regional counsel for the State University of New York. In 1997, the New York Board of Regents appointed him to Adelphi’s Board of Trustees. He was a board member for more than 12 years, and fulfilled duties on nearly every committee. He served as secretary of the Board of Trustees, and chaired two committees, Audit and Finance and Administration. His most recent service was on the Audit Committee and the Student Life Committee.
Mr. Cahn has served as counsel to various governmental officers and agencies, private corporations, and educational institutions since 1957. He was a founding partner in the firm Cahn Wishod & Lamb, LLP. He is a member of the Magistrate Judge Selection Committee for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York and has previously held positions as vice president and director of the Federal Bar Council, president of the Suffolk County Bar Association, special district attorney of Suffolk County, and chairman of the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce, among others.
Mr. Cahn is a fellow of the New York Bar Foundation, the American Bar Foundation, the Federal Bar Foundation, and the American College of Trial Lawyers.
Mr. Cahn received his B.A. from Dartmouth College in 1953, and an LLB from Yale Law School in 1956.
