Underground Railroad: Hiding in Place

Event, Featured, Art Exhibition, Ongoing Event, Cultural Event, Black History Month

Photographs by Amani Willett.

The images were made in locations that factored significantly in the history of the Underground Railroad.

The legacy of the Underground Railroad has resulted in blurred lines between myth and history, and illustrates the ambiguous relationship between physical spaces, circumstantial evidence and lore. Additionally, it raises important questions about the differences between history and collective memory.

A reception will be held on Sunday February 8, from 2-4pm in the Ruth S. Harley University Center Gallery.
