Send off Stiles Field in Style
Join alumni, students, faculty, and staff for a fond farewell to the current Stiles Athletic Field on Saturday, May 12, 2007, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A picnic and celebration are planned to bid adieu to the natural turf of Adelphi's athletic field, which will be replaced with an all-weather surface to allow for year-round use as part of Adelphi's campus enhancement project. The new outdoor stadium will feature lights and underground parking.

AU Student Lauded for New Logo
The Long Island Contractors' Association, Inc. (LICA) has a new logo thanks to Alison Stevens '07, whose design was selected from among those presented by other Long Island graphic design majors in a recent competition. The top seven designs were created by Adelphi students. Ms. Stevens won a $1,000 scholarship, and Adelphi's graphic design program was awarded $500.

A Few Words from Congressman John Lewis for Class of 2007
Adelphi Class of 2007 graduates and their guests will hear what's on the mind of featured speaker and honorary degree recipient Congressman John Lewis at Adelphi's 111th Commencement on Monday, May 21, 2007. Honorary degrees will also be awarded to William and Judith Borten '57, Donna Orender, and Cecil Watkins '75, M.A. '86. The Class of '57 will celebrate its 50th reunion, as more than 2,400 members of the Class of '07 receive their degrees.

Eight Named to Hall of Fame
Congratulations to the eight 2007 Athletics Hall of Fame inductees: Thomas Aiello '93, the late Albert Angelone '60, Nicholas Clark '99, Thomas Liotti '70, former swim coach Bill Irwin, William Phillips '78, Kelly Rohan '90, and Susan Tarzian '82. They will be feted at the 37th annual Hall of Fame dinner on Thursday, April 19, 2007.

Former baseball team captain Brian Rath '07 was selected as the national physical education major of the year by the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.

Matt Dispensa '08 Named 2006 ECC Cross Country Scholar-Athlete
Matt Dispensa '08 was named the 2006 East Coast Conference (ECC) Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete, as voted by the league's coaches. He maintains a 3.52 grade point average and finished third as an individual at the 2006 ECC Cross Country Championship.

Panthers Are Reading CHAMPS for Children
Adelphi student-athletes participating in the CHAMPS (Challenging Athletes' Minds for Personal Success)/Life Skills program traveled to Old Mill Elementary School in February to read to children as part of the PTA-sponsored "Parents as Reading Partners" Program.
