The Class of 2010 Moves In
The Garden City campus was abuzz on Thursday, August 24 as over 350 freshmen moved into their residence halls. Adelphi faculty and administrators, including President Scott, were on hand to help. More than 820 new students are enrolled for fall 2006.

Adelphi Welcomes New Faculty and Administrators
Students weren't the only new faces on campus this fall. Nearly forty new faculty members have been appointed for fall 2006. They are joined by three new administrators: Shawn O'Riley, University College executive director; Richard Rotanz, the University's first special advisor to the provost for emergency management programs; and Michael Stepniak, associate dean of performing arts.

Professor Alan Schoenfeld Awarded over $200,000 for Cancer Research
The National Institutes for Health awarded Assistant Professor Alan Schoenfeld $208,410 over three years to study von Hipple-Lindau disease and how it relates to kidney cancer.

New Parking Grove Opens
Right on schedule, Adelphi completed the first phase of its campus enhancement project, opening a new parking grove between Woodruff Hall and the University Center, in time for the start of fall classes. Building continues on a new recreation and sports center and a new performing arts center.

Adelphi Sets Fundraising Mark
Thanks to the generosity of thousands of Adelphi alumni, employees, parents, students, and friends, Adelphi closed its 2005-2006 fiscal year with record contributions totaling over $9.4 million. Deep thanks to all who supported Adelphi over the past year.

Recent Gifts Fund Scholarships and Outreach
With two generous gifts, Adelphi established the Thomas and Richard Lovely Scholarship for Garden City High School graduates and the Kathryn T. Riley Scholarship benefitting Long Island Catholic school teachers. A gift of $35,000 from Bethpage Federal Credit Union will support a new nonprofit leadership center.

Ficke Golf Classic a Success
A successful second annual Janet L. Ficke '59 Golf Classic raised funds for Adelphi women's athletics. The outing, held at Harbor Links Golf Course, attracted 80 golfers and 115 dinner guests.

Swimmers Get High Marks for High GPAs
The swim team was honored with an Academic All-American Team award from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America for a "superior" team grade point average of 3.43.

Five Coaches Start this Fall
Adelphi appointed five new coaches for fall 2006, including: Adam Siepiola, head coach of the men's and women's cross-country and track and field programs; Scott Allen, head golf coach; Dr. Robert Cincotta, women's bowling team coach; Jason Akbar, head men and women's tennis coach; and Chriss Mazzarella, head volleyball coach.

Coach Whalen Named ECC Associate Commissioner for Operations
Kate Whalen, who has served as assistant athletic director and softball coach at Adelphi University for the past 13 years, was named associate commissioner for operations of the East Coast Conference. Adelphi is grateful for Coach Whalen's leadership and years of service and wishes her well in her new role.
