Physics Department Launches M.S. in Physics with a Concentration in Optics
Next fall, the Department of Physics will offer a new Master of Science degree in physics with a concentration in optics. The program is designed for students with baccalaureate degrees in science, engineering, or related disciplines who are interested in pursuing careers in the rapidly expanding field of optical physics.

Adelphi Re-launches M.B.A. in Health Services Administration
Adelphi University has re-launched its M.B.A. in health services administration, an interdisciplinary program from the School of Business and School of Nursing, which prepares students for administrative leadership positions in a range of health care and medical organizations.

NSF Awards Adelphi Associate Professor Stephen Bloch Nearly $500,000
The National Science Foundation awarded Associate Professor Stephen Bloch $499,688 in grant funding over four years to teach summer workshops to college faculty on “TeachScheme, ReachJava!," a breakthrough approach to teaching introductory computer programming that emphasizes broad problem-solving skills.

Coaching a New Generation of Business Leaders
Last month, 30 business students gained career tips and guidance from Adelphi alumni at Bear, Stearns & Co., Merrill Lynch, and Parkmont Capital as part of Adelphi's first C•O•A•C•H (Count on Alumni for Career Help) event, "Careers in Finance." The C•O•A•C•H Program pairs Adelphi students with alumni employed in their chosen field, who offer them insight into their respective industries, career advice, and mentorship.

Save the Date! The Fifth Annual Black History Month Celebration is scheduled for Saturday, February 24, 2007 in the Ruth S. Harley University Center and features keynote speaker Adelphi Trustee Gerry House. Check out the photo gallery from last year's event.

Mark your calendars! Adelphi Basketball Alumni Day is set for Saturday, February 24, 2007. The alumni games will take place at 1:00 PM for the women and 3:00 PM for the men. The intercollegiate basketball doubleheader vs. Molloy College tips off at 5:30 PM.
