Prison Reform and Rehabilitation: 46th Annual Adelphi History Conference

Juris Doctor and CUNY law professor Steven Zeidman, J.D., and Adelphi faculty will invite tri-state area history teachers to explore the theme of the history and current state of criminalization, punishment and rehabilitation in prisons, compared to the ‘get tough on crime’ approach promoted since the 1970s.

Discussants will explore outreach efforts that have dramatically transformed the lives of People of Color and White men and women who were given a second chance while incarcerated, despite never having received a first chance.

Sponsored by the Department of History, College of Arts and Sciences, Political Science, The Center for African, Black and Caribbean Studies, Criminal Justice, The Collaboration Project, and The Office of Diversity and Inclusion.
