An Evening with Kal Penn

Kal Penn

Kal Penn

Though there is a tradition of Hollywood stars campaigning for politicians, Kal Penn may be the only one to stop his career to work full time in politics. From 2009–2011, he was associate director at the White House Office of Public Engagement, where his work related to “don’t ask, don’t tell,” increasing financial aid and bringing Americans back from Iraq. He also served as a liaison with Asian-American and Pacific Islander communities. Penn returned to TV in 2011 with a role on How I Met Your Mother.

Co-sponsored by the Student Government Association and the Debate Society.
