Woodruff Hall

Breast Cancer Awareness Week with Campus Recreation

As many of you know, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. As a department, it is important for us to show our support for the cause. October 15-23 is Campus Recreation Breast Cancer Awareness Week. Here’s what you need to know and how you will be asked to participate:

  • We will have paper pink ribbons at each check-in station for recreation, group fitness classes as well as intramural sport training and games throughout the week. We will encourage patrons to sign their name or write a message on the ribbons and we will post them up around the building. We have 500 ribbons and our goal is to get them all filled out so we can fill our facilities in pink to show our support!
  • Group Fitness Class participants will be encouraged this week in class to wear pink next week to all the classes. Club sports are also being encouraged to wear pink at their activities this week.
  • Some Group Fitness Classes will have guest speakers from the Hotline as well as intramural staff training.
  • Giveaways and collaboration with the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline – We will have a Breast Cancer Awareness table set up in the atrium with brochures, information as well as the surprise giveaways on:
    • Monday, October 15 from 12:00 noon-2:00 p.m.
    • Wednesday, October 17 from 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.
    • Monday, October 22 from 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.

Sponsored by Campus Recreation and the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline.
