Challenges Ahead: Europe at the UN


Presented by Dr. Karen E. Smith, professor of international relations, London School of Economics

The European Union is one of the most influential groups in UN multilateralism; however, the growth of nationalist and illiberal tendencies, disparagement of milieu goals by authoritarian and like-minded powers alike, as well as Brexit, have severely threatened the group’s influence and prestige.

How will these challenges affect the EU at the UN and how it is perceived by other UN members?
