Cybersecurity Challenges Facing Higher Education

In April of this year, Georgia Tech suffered its second data breach, affecting 1.3 million current and former students, faculty and staff. In 2018, fifty universities in the United Kingdom were also hacked.

Are higher education institutions vulnerable?

What is at stake for your futures?

What can we do to lessen our exposure?

Learn from one of our own, Michael Balboni ’81, J.D., whose company RedLand Strategies advises billion-dollar companies about how to deal with cyber risk. Besides being a former New York State Assemblyman and Senator, he currently serves as the Chairman of the Cyber and Physical Security Committee for the New York Power Authority (NYPA), the largest public utility in the nation. Michael graduated from Adelphi in 1981 and is also a member of Adelphi’s board of trustees lending his expertise and guidance to the University.

Michael Balboni is the President and Managing Director of RedLand Strategies. Balboni has both the expertise and strategic knowledge to understand and react to the most difficult problems that you might face in both government and business. Before entering the private sector, Balboni served the public in New York State for 19 years, beginning with his election to the New York State Assembly in February of 1990. He was re-elected to the NYS Assembly four times, before winning a seat in the NYS Senate. He then served in the New York State Governor’s Office as Deputy Secretary for Public Safety and Homeland Security Advisor for New York State, overseeing 13 state agencies.
