Data in Society: Using Data Services for Technological Uplift

In celebration of Open Data Week 2020, Jonathan O. Cain will examine interactions among practical arts and tools, moral knowledge and imagination, and ways that data is used to make impactful decisions in health, public administration, economics, education, and government.

A grounding in data literacy, methods of intelligent inquiry and problem-solving, are fast becoming prerequisites for the future of work. Join FCPE, the Provost’s Data Analytics Task Force and our guest speaker, Jonathan O. Cain, in reimagining how data competencies might integrate into Adelphi’s undergraduate curriculum. 

About the Speaker

Jonathan Cain is the interim director of Digital Strategies and the founding head of Data Services at the University of Oregon.

Jonathan is a tidyverse trainer and a certified Data Carpentry instructor. He is an active member of the open scholarship and data communities, contributing to OSAOS Handbook and planning OpenCon Cascadia, as well as the csv,conf,v4.
