Diversity and Inclusion Campus Tour

Members of Adelphi’s community are invited to tour our Garden City campus and reflect on the ways in which our various communities and physical spaces reflect our commitment to advancing diversity.

Participants will tour the campus in small groups, accompanied by facilitators from the Adelphi University Diversity Committee, and discuss the ways in which we’re currently succeeding—and the areas in which we need to improve—in creating a space where all students, faculty, staff and guests of Adelphi feel welcomed, represented and respected.

Participants will gather in the lobby of the Ruth S. Harley University Center for a welcome and overview of the tour route and schedule. We will then split into smaller groups of students, faculty and staff/administration, with each group receiving a suggested tour route based on the unique needs of the portion of the campus community that they represent. Groups will conduct their tours at their own pace, visiting tour stops in whatever order they choose. Participants are welcome to make observations on additional spaces and communities not included on the suggested routes.

The full group will reconvene at the end of the event for refreshments and a debrief discussion. Participants will share their observations, and we will discuss potential next steps to continue to improve our campus climate.

Finally, participants will be asked to complete a brief evaluation to summarize their experience and provide key observations and takeaways. The Diversity Committee may use this information to inform future initiatives.

Participation on the 2017 Diversity and Inclusion Campus Tour is by invitation.

Please contact us at if you would like to be included in this and/or future events held by the Diversity Committee.
