Gaining a Competitive Advantage through Sustainable Business Practices: The Case of Colgate-Palmolive

Bill Faraday is a senior environmental, sustainability, occupational health and safety executive with over 30 years’ experience in several industries including consumer goods, pharmaceutical, aerospace and electric utility. For the past seven years he has been a Principal with Faraday Associates, a consultancy. Prior to that he was the worldwide director for environmental affairs and occupational health and safety at Colgate Palmolive, one of the world’s largest consumer products company. During his time he helped the company achieve significant success in reducing energy use, carbon dioxide emissions, water use, and accident rates. Faraday also served as director of health safety and environmental affairs at Reckitt & Colman, a British consumer products company, and as manager of environmental compliance at Grumman Aerospace.

Faraday holds a Bachelor of Science degree from City University of New York – Hunter College and a Master of Science degree in Biology from Adelphi University.

Leadership Certificate Program LogoAbout the Leadership Certificate Program

The Leadership Certificate Program is an interdepartmental initiative hosted by the Center for Career and Professional Development, the Center for Student Involvement, the Office of Alumni Relations and the Robert B. Willumstad School of Business.

Its goal is to offer Adelphi undergraduate and graduate students opportunities to develop leadership and professional skills. Participants are able to attend workshops on a wide variety of topics during the course of the year. 

Requirements for Students

To participate in the Leadership Certificate Program, you must RSVP for a minimum of six events. Each student must complete the workshops within the academic year. Events are added throughout the year.
