Workshop in Group Theory and Technique

Workshop will take place during six sessions: September 9 and 23, October 7 and 21, November 4 and 11. Each of the six sessions is three hours and fifteen minutes (4:00 p.m.-7:15 p.m.), divided between a lecture/case conference and an experiential group, with a fifteen minute break between the two courses.

The Workshop in Group Theory and Technique will maintain a dual-didactic-experiential focus, with each session emphasizing a selected topic relating to theory and the general principles of group formation, dynamics and process.

The workshop is oriented towards the candidate’s personal and professional growth, since we believe that the leader’s understanding of subjective experience is primary in successful group work. The orientation is psychoanalytic and relational; systems, cognitive, crisis-interventional and behavioral modalities are also included, dependent on candidates’ interests and needs, as are theory and techniques involving special populations and settings, e.g., children, adolescents, school, clinical and hospital.
