Hearing Vs. Listening

Presented by: Edward Marlatt, Adjunct Professor, Communication Sciences and Language Disorders

Your students hear you in class, but are they listening? For the non-hearing impaired, hearing is involuntary. We hear everything around us whether we’d like to or not. Listening is a conscious action. Speech/Language Pathologist, Audiologist, and Educator, Edward Marlatt, will highlight the key differences and explain how to remove obstacles and motivate students to move from simply hearing us, to actively listening.
