Medicine, Science and Public Health in the Third World: A Personal Odyssey

Joseph J. Napolitano Memorial Lecture will be presented by James Ferguson ’77, M.D., M.P.H. ’15

James Ferguson ’77, M.D., M.P.H. ’15, has spent 30 years as a family physician. One of the first to graduate with a Master of Public Health from Adelphi’s College of Nursing and Public Health, Dr. Ferguson will be applying that knowledge in his trips to developing nations. Since 2007, he has traveled to Honduras, Haiti, Ghana and Russia on medical mission trips with groups such as Global Brigades and Heart to Heart, as well as with renowned doctor and humanitarian Patch Adams, M.D.—the subject of a 1998 Robin Williams movie. Closer to home, Dr. Ferguson also runs free clinics for the Eastern Farm Workers Association and for residents of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.
