Junior Audition Workshop

This event has been postponed. Check back at a later date for updated information.

Join the Department of Music at Adelphi University for their annual Junior Audition Workshop!

In this FREE workshop, prospective music students in their junior year of high school will hone their skills in a “mock” audition and participate in masterclasses with Adelphi University Department of Music faculty. Geared towards emerging musicians preparing for their senior year college auditions, this half-day workshop will demystify the college music audition process and provide helpful insight and tips for preparation.

Masterclasses will be open to the public for observation. Students selected to participate in the masterclass will have the opportunity to perform their music selection in front of an audience and work one on one with the Department of Music faculty, receiving immediate feedback. We will make every effort to accommodate everyone who wishes to participate in the masterclass section of our workshop, but due to time constraints cannot guarantee that all students wishing to will be able to perform in the masterclass.

Students interested in participating in the Masterclass portion of the Junior Audition Workshop must complete the online registration form and email a copy of your complete repertoire list and/or music resume no later than March 15, 2020. For all other applicants, registration closes on March 20, 2020.

Students selected for masterclasses will be notified by March 18, 2020, and those participating will be required to email the title of the piece of music to be performed in the master class to no later than March 20, 2020. Please limit the duration of your music selection to no more than five minutes.

  • All singers and instrumentalists (except solo pianists) must bring a piano accompaniment part for any accompanied works they perform.
  • A piano accompanist will be provided for you – it is requested that you play with an accompanist for your mock audition and masterclass, unless your work is for unaccompanied instrument or voice.
