Leading with Preparation for Success

Speakers Melanie Strano and Tye Morisson, both Adelphi Alumni and current IBM consultants are here to discuss their experiences in college as well as the commercial world. They will touch upon important factors that contribute to the leadership of an individual and give tips on how to best prepare oneself before applying for a job in today’s competitive world. The presentations shall last 50 minutes with a 10 minute Q&A session in the end.

This event is part of Adelphi’s Leadership Certificate Program. However, you do not need to be a part of the Leadership Certificate Program to attend this event.

About the Speaker

Melanie Strano is a Digital Strategy and Interactive Experience Consultant in the Financial Services Sector of IBM’s Global Business Services. She is currently in the Consulting by Degrees Program based in New York, New York. Strano graduated from Adelphi University in New York with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management and a concentration in Human Resources. Her professional experience began at New York Cares as an intern in the Training and Professional Development department. At this non-profit organization, Strano worked as the direct liaison between New York Cares and corporate clients on volunteer projects to ensure successful client experiences.

At Adelphi, she led multiple organizations working simultaneously on different projects with diverse teams. Through her education and work experiences, she acquired valuable skills in collaboration, project management and event planning and execution. Strano is an adaptable leader who looks forward to tackling future challenges. She is eager to embrace dynamic environments and work toward project success and client satisfaction.

The Leadership Certificate Program is an interdepartmental initiative hosted by the Center for Career and Professional Development, the Center for Student Involvement, the Office of Alumni Relations and the Robert B. Willumstad School of Business.

Its goal is to offer Adelphi undergraduate and graduate students opportunities to develop leadership and professional skills. Participants are able to attend workshops on a wide variety of topics during the course of the year. 

Requirements for Students

To participate in the Leadership Certificate Program, you must RSVP for a minimum of six events. Each student must complete the workshops within the academic year. Events are added throughout the year.
