National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

Adelphi University has been chosen as an official drug take-back site for National Take-Back Day 2019. This is the eighth year of participation for the Adelphi Community, and we have collected hundreds of pounds of old prescription drugs in previous years.

This National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is offered to provide the public with an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by properly disposing of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs; no questions asked. The proper disposal of drugs also prevents them from becoming an environmental hazards in our water.

Unwanted drugs will be anonymously collected at the following places and times:

  • Friday, April 26 – Public Safety Office (Levermore Hall room 113), 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 27 – Ruth S. Harley University Center Lobby, 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

This event is open to the community, with disposal handled by Nassau County Police Department and the DEA.

This event is co sponsored by Public Safety, Counseling Services and the American Drug Enforcement Agency.
