Swirbul Library Plaza

Ephemeral Outdoor Art and Performance

Watch art come alive on our campus—quickly, before it blows away!

Installation and multiple-media artist Joe Mangrum will create a magical sand painting on the sidewalk in front of Swirbul Library between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, as the final installation in Adelphi’s 2017 Ephemeral exhibition.

Mangrum will occupy the wide cement area near the walkway from Levermore Hall to Blodgett Hall next to the library, with ample space for pedestrians to enter and exit.

Following the painting, there will be a dance performance choreographed by Melissa Riker and performed by Kinesis Dance Theatre and the dance department. Accompanying the performance, there will be live music, composed by Sidney Boquiren and performed by the music department. These performances will begin at 4:45 p.m. in the areas adjacent to the Nexus Building, Levermore Hall, Blodgett Hall and the library.

The rain date is Wednesday, May 3.
