Successful Transition from High School to College: A Focus on Students with Learning Disabilities

Adelphi University’s Student Access Office, in collaboration with the Faculty Committee on Individuals with Disabilities and the Office of University Admissions, invite school counselors, special education faculty and school psychologists to participate in this event.
Panels and presentations comprised of Adelphi program directors, faculty experts and current students will lend valuable insight to help you remain at the forefront in helping students with learning disabilities transition to college successfully. We will discuss specifically how students with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and documented needs can be best supported at college and achieve success.
You’ll hear directly from the following transitional services and programs:
  • Academic Services & Retention
  • Bridges to Adelphi Program
  • General Studies Learning Community
  • Learning Resource Program
  • Student Access Office
  • Student Counseling Center
You’ll leave our presentation with:
  • A stronger understanding of student support and transition at the college level
  • Testimonials on how students personally benefit from various support services
  • Knowledge that will help you refer students to programs that best accommodate their learning needs
  • A clear understanding of how students are considered for specialized support services
Breakfast and lunch will be served and student-led tours will be offered at the conclusion of the event.
Space is limited! RSVP by Friday, November 2, 2018 to Susan Ellis at
