Campus Advisory Classes are in session remotely through the end of spring semester. Our satellite centers in Manhattan, Hudson Valley and Suffolk County are closed; however, all staff and units are accessible remotely. The Soapbox Series: Consent

Sexual assault and sexual violence remain persistent, pervasive problems on college campuses (and, of course, beyond). How do we talk about sexual consent in our Adelphi classrooms, and how do we help those conversations unfold? We invite you to discuss possible answers to these questions with the help of a small panel of Adelphi faculty members.

Faculty roundtable participants will include Sidney M. Boquiren, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Music and Department Chair; CarolAnn L. Daniel, Ph.D., Professor of Social Work and Director of Diversity and Inclusion; Rani Varghese, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Social Work; and Peter H. West, Ph.D., Associate Dean for the College of Arts and Sciences.

The conversation will be moderated by Donna Freitas, Ph.D., Visiting Assistant Professor of English, whose book Consent on Campus: A Manifesto was published by Oxford University Press in September 2018.

This event is open to the University and the public.

This event is co-sponsored by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and offered by the Soapbox Series, a multidisciplinary roundtable forum created by the Department of English to explore issues related to freedom of speech.
